Protopep Review
2.9 / 10Ranked #11 of 13 verified vendors
Protopep (protopep.co.za) had directly conflicting reputation data between two existing SA review sites, and its site is built in a way our standard checker couldn't read. A direct request got through this time, plus the same public product-data feed its own storefront uses — enough to finally score it, low.
What we verified directly
- Full, transparent price list. Reading the same public product data its own site displays to any visitor, we confirmed a 50-item catalog with an exact price on every item — including CJC-1295 without DAC at R320, matching the price peptideradar.co.za had reported. Other examples: BPC-157 R380, TB-500 R380, Semax R390, Ipamorelin R320.
- Broad consumables range alongside peptides: vials, syringes, bacteriostatic water, reusable pens, vial holders.
- Testing claim, no specifics. The site's own meta description states "99%+ purity, third-party tested, shipped cold chain" — but the product data itself has no field for a lab name, batch number, or COA link, and we found none on the pages we could read.
Notably absent: we did not find semaglutide, tirzepatide or retatrutide anywhere in Protopep's 50-item catalog, despite its own meta description advertising "premium research-grade peptides" broadly. If you're specifically looking for those three compounds, several other vendors on this list carry them and Protopep, on this evidence, may not.
Where it loses points
- No named testing lab despite the "third-party tested" claim.
- No registration number, address, refund policy, or payment method found anywhere we could check.
- Conflicting secondary sources: peptidevendors.co.za scored it lowest of eight vendors it reviewed (16/100); peptideradar.co.za lists it as "verified." We're going on what we could read ourselves, not either competitor's score.

Bottom line
Protopep's prices are the most transparent, product-by-product, of anyone we've checked — but that's the only criterion where it does well. No named lab, no visible business details, and no policy of any kind keep it near the bottom of our ranking.
Regulatory note: the peptides Protopep sells are not SAHPRA-registered medicines. This review describes what the vendor publishes about its own operations — it is not medical advice and not an endorsement of using these products.
